Purina Mills Educational Seminars

More than 1,000 free equine educational seminars will be held throughout the United States this spring, beginning Feb. 15 and running through the end of May. The Purina Education Series, now in its fifth year, is the most extensive educational undertaking for horse owners in the country. The seminars are designed to teach people the latest in nutrition, health, training, and horse management techniques.

These seminars are held in cooperation with the American Association of Equine Practitioners and Bayer Animal Health. The seminars will feature veterinarians, educators, nutrition specialists, trainers, breeders, farriers, and other horse industry professionals who tailor their presentations to the needs and interests of local audiences. In addition to health care, management, and training topics, this year's presentations could include discussions on riding safety, nutraceuticals, immunization, parasite control, mare and foal care, and more.

The seminars are hosted by local Purina Gold Dealers and are offered at no cost to horse owners through sponsorships from Purina Mills and more than a dozen other corporations, including Dodge trucks, Sooner trailers, 3M Animal Health Care products, Tipper Tie Fencing, Bayer Animal Health, Justin Boots, Pedigree, and Equibrand.

Educational and supporting organizations include American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Quarter Horse Association, North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Horse Industry Alliance, United States Pony Club, National Little Britches Rodeo Association, National High School Rodeo Association, Equitana, 4H, FFA, and the United States Team Roping Championships.
