Groups Join Together to Help Fire Victims

Colorado and Arizona are experiencing the worst wildfires in their histories--thousands of people and horses have been evacuated from their farms. Farnam Companies responded last Friday to an urgent call for 800-900 bales of hay that were needed by the next day at two sites housing relocated horses. The company is working with relief organizers to raise money to help with future needs, and has challenged other manufacturers of horse products to match their initial $6,000 donation.

If you would like to help those in need, donations can be made care of:

White Mountain Horseman's Association (WMHA) Fire Fund
(Fed. Tax ID: 86-0909962)
To account # 8229201264 Community First Bank,
also via Wells Fargo for Community First.

Donations also may be mailed to:
C/O Matt Clarich
PO Box 661
Concho, AZ 85924

Western Horseman magazine also has spearheaded an Animal Feed Fund to help buy hay for all livestock in need at these facilities. Volunteers are on hand to haul and distribute it. To contribute to the fund, send checks to

Animal Feed Fund
C/O Western Horseman,
Box 7980
Colorado Springs, CO 80933.

Western Horseman is matching, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $2,500 to help get the fund established, according to Randy Witte, Western Horseman publisher. Every dollar collected will go to buy feed for affected animals, and any money left over after the crisis will go to Front Range Equine Rescue, a year-round horse rescue operation based in Colorado.

The Animal Feed Fund will also be used to proved food for cats, dogs and any other displaced animals. For more information on this fund, contact 719/633-5524.
