Two Albuterol Positives Announced In California

Trainers Mike Harrington and Howard Zucker have been charged by the California Horse Racing Board with positive tests for the prohibited Class 3 substance albuterol, a bronchodialator, which turned up in horses they ran earlier this year at Santa Anita.

Zucker's test came from Bold as Beau, a 5-year-old gelding who won for a $10,000 claiming tag in the fourth race on March 21. Bold as Beau was dropping from an eighth-place finish for a $25,000 claiming tag. Harrington's test came from Arosa, who finished second in a maiden claiming event at Santa Anita on March 20.

Both trainers have retained Darrell Vienna to represent them before the local board of stewards. The cases are schedule to take place sometime in June.
