Balch Re-elected As AHSA President

Alan Balch has been re-elected to serve a second term of office as President of the American Horse Shows Association. The Board of Directors voted at the Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV, January 12-16, 2000 to support Balch for a further three years into the 21st century.

Balch has instigated significant advances during his tenure as President including the relocation of the AHSA head offices to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. The AHSA is in an excellent financial position and membership services have improved considerably with applications now being processed in five days.

During his speech to the Board of Directors, Balch pledged his commitment to the AHSA. “I love this sport and I love this organization. I express that devotion through service to the organization,” said Balch. He reflected on the numerous challenges during his first three years, specifically citing drugs and medication, the relocation to Kentucky as well as the formation and development of the National Hunter Jumper Council. He then looked to the future of the association by committing more resources to the information technology and marketing departments. “The attention to marketing will be without parallel in the AHSA's history.”
