Mortenson Joins AAEP Staff

Mortensen has joined the staff of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) as Director of Membership and Industry Relations. His responsibilities include managing the AAEP’s sponsorship program and serving as liaison to the horse industry on public policy and equine health care issues. He began his duties in December.

Mortensen comes to the AAEP from The Jockey Club, where he promoted the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s individual membership program. His experience in the equine industry also includes service as Horseman’s Liaison for the 1998 and 1999 Breeders’ Cup Limited events, and an internship at Vinery, a Kentucky-based Thoroughbred farm. A native of Colorado, he is a graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Equine Science.

“I developed a bond with the horse early in life, and I believe strongly in ensuring the horse’s quality of life and the integrity of equine sport,” said Mortensen. “The mission of the AAEP is the very ideal I believe in, and I am excited to work on behalf of the health and welfare of the horse.”
