Syndicate manager Robert Clay announced Oct. 13 that Three Chimneys Thoroughbred stallion Wild Again is being retired due to declining fertility. “Wild Again has been a distinguished member of our stallion roster for the last 13 years,” Clay said. “His fertility has declined in the last two years, so that it is time he retires to the comfort he so richly deserves here at Three Chimneys.”

Wild Again joins pensioners Slew o’ Gold and Capote at the Midway, Ky., farm.

A foal of 1980 by Icecapade, out of Bushel-n-Peck (by Khaled), Wild Again arrived at Three Chimneys in December of 1991 as part of the dissolution of Calumet Farm. At that point, he had three crops of racing age. Since then, his progeny earnings have dipped below $3 million only once, and for each of the last 10 years, those earnings have ranged between $4 million and $7.6 million.

“He’s sired eight millionaires, four champions, and an incredible number of good, hard-trying racehorses,” Clay said. “His runners win races over all distances. Versatility and consistency have been the hallmarks of his stallion career
