| When I try to view an article, the page says it is only available to registered users. Why? |
|
Articles on TheHorse.com are available in two access levels. Unregistered visitors can read the full text of anything linked from the TheHorse.com home page or that has appeared in recent e-newsletters. Registered visitors can read all articles available on TheHorse.com, including all archived articles.
If you are registered and logged in, you should never be prompted to register to read an article. You will see "[Your Name]'s Stuff" in the upper right corner of any page when you are logged in. If you see "Sign In or Register Now..." here instead, then you are not logged in and you might not be able to read some articles until you register and/or log in.

| How do I find information on a particular horse health topic on TheHorse.com? |
|
The information on TheHorse.com is organized into a database so that you can find information in many different ways:
- By TOPIC, using the Browse Topics link on the left side of any page;
- By KEYWORD, using the search box at the top of any page;
- By ARTICLE NUMBER, if you already know this from a reference in our magazine, using the "Go To Article #" box in the left-side navigation bar of any page.
- By browsing the "Related Articles" section. When you pull up an article, you will see a section at the bottom of the page called Related Articles--this section, as you might guess, lists other articles in the same categories to which the current article belongs.
- By browsing the "Related Topics" section at the top of any article page.
If you cannot find the information you seek by using any of these search methods, you can email us your question. Keep in mind that if the answer is provided somewhere on this site, you'll get a quicker answer by searching our site than by contacting us, so this email should not be your first resort. Most of the time, the answer to your question is contained in an archived article.
If you are positive that your question is not already answered on the site, email it to AskTheVet@TheHorse.com for possible inclusion in the magazine. Please keep in mind that we cannot and will not diagnose any health problem or recommend treatment. Only a veterinarian who has examined the horse can do that. What we can do is give you more information on a problem your veterinarian has diagnosed. Due to the volume of emails we receive, we can't answer all of them, but all suggestions for magazine articles will be considered.

| Are there any keyword search tips I should know about? |
|
In general, the more specific you are, the better your results will be. For example, a search for "sand colic" will produce better results than a search for just "colic" if that's what you are interested in. If you're not getting results with a multiple word search, try using just one or two of the words instead. If instead you need to limit your search, try putting your search terms in quotation marks to search for an exact phrase (such as "merits of standing enucleation") or subtracting certain terms (such as neck problems -wobbler).

| How does the News section work? |
|

If you are looking for a specific news item or topic, you can search for it by keyword in the top of any page, use our Browse Topic section, or see the list of all News articles.
