Lael Stables' Lentenor, the full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, finished third in his career debut on closing day at Keeneland Oct. 31, a race won by the favored Positive Split.
Ridden by Julien Leparoux for trainer Michael Matz, who also conditioned Barbaro, Lentenor waited in traffic along the inside on the turn of the seven-furlong maiden special weight Polytrack event for 11 2-year-olds. Leparoux worked Lentenor out and around rivals while four wide, but the bay colt drifted inward in the final furlong and did not improve his position while finishing 4 1/4 lengths behind Positive Split.

Robby Albarado guided Positive Split ($4.40) to a 1 1/2-length win over Raincatcher. The final time was 1:24.59.
Lentenor's full brother Barbaro was euthanized early in 2007 after developing laminitis following a career-ending leg injury sustained in the Preakness Stakes. Another full brother, Nicanor, is recovering from a bone bruise that forced him to be scratched from the Virginia Derby. Nicanor is expected to return to competition at Gulfstream Park.
