A criminal case involving the starvation of two wild horses adopted from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ended with a guilty plea in Rogers County, Okla., the Bureau announced yesterday. Adopter Shannon J. Smoke of Broken Arrow, Okla., pled guilty in state court on July 1, 2009, to one count of felony animal cruelty for starving the horses he had obtained through the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Program in 2006.
