Arizona Authorities Probe Alleged Animal Cruelty

Several horses are receiving rehabilitative care after they and approximately 54 other animals were seized by Maricopa County, Arizona, authorities.

Lieutenant Brandon Jones, public information officer for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, said sheriff’s personnel seized four Miniature Horses and two full-sized horses, along with birds, cats, dogs, and other animals, on Jan 5. Several zebras and llamas will also be seized, he said.

Jones said at the time of their seizure, all of the horses were allegedly “sick and emaciated. The horses have thrush and are thin.”

The seized animals are receiving veterinary treatment, he said
