Equine Veterinarian Pryor Dies

Peter Pryor, DVM, who worked at a veterinarian for more than 30 years at Lane's End Farm, in Versailles, Ky., died Sept. 28. He was 58.

Born in Denver, Colo., Pryor received early admission to the School of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University. He subsequently completed an internship and residency at the University of California, Davis.

In his Kentucky practice, Pryor specialized in lameness and orthopedics in horses.

In a Legacy.com posting, Joyce Fogleman, who works in marketing at Lane's End, a large-scale Thoroughbred operation, said Pryor will be missed.

"I have known Pete for many years from our work at Lane's End and so enjoyed his intellect, his kindness, his humor, his compassion, and strength; He was a great gentleman," Fogleman said. "I will miss him and send my thoughts to his family."

A funeral mass was held at Oct. 12 in Lexington. A memorial mass will be held Dec. 17 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Denver.

Pryor is survived by his mother Phyllis of Denver, and his wife Lucie VanMeter and children Peter and Elizabeth Alden, all of Lexington, Ky.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Peter Brinton Pryor Memorial Fund for Esophageal Cancer Research at the University of Michigan, Thoracic Surgery Department, in care of Marc Orringer, MD.
