Duncan F. Peters, DVM, MS, has been named director of the Clinical Equine Sports Medicine Program and associate professor of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).

Peters comes to MSU from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Ky. A leading authority on locomotor pathology, diagnosis, and treatment, Peters also works on managing sport horse health for optimum performance. He is a multi-discipline licensed Fédération Equestrian Internationale (FEI) veterinarian and is FEI certified in dressage, eventing, jumping, driving, vaulting, and reining.

"The College’s entire equine team is very pleased to welcome Dr. Peters to the MSU community," said Ray Geor, BVSc, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, chairman of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at MSU. "Duncan is an accomplished equine veterinarian with a well-deserved international reputation in sports medicine and I anticipate exciting growth and a new breadth of services in our equine division. The Department and College are grateful to Provost Wilcox and the search committee for making this exciting recruitment possible
