A Texas couple is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after law enforcement authorities seized dozens of horses at their farm in Montgomery County.

Assistant District Attorney Philip Grant said that on June 23, law enforcement authorities began investigating allegations that a herd of horses and other animals were being maltreated at the Premium Star Ranch in Conroe, Texas. The following day a search warrant was served on the owners of that property, Grant said. According to that warrant, the horses residing there were allegedly malnourished.

“The horses were not being fed properly, getting hay but not grain,” the warrant said.

Also according to the warrant, one stallion was left in the hot sun without shade or water. The horse was losing skin due to sun exposure the warrant said
