A wrap-up of the 2010 AAEP Convention (held Dec. 4-8 in Baltimore, Md.), including in-depth coverage of nearly 100 presentations and sessions on all aspects of equine veterinary medicine.

Some of the topics covered during this year’s convention included eye surface failure, top studies of 2010, equine welfare, gastrointestinal tract, lameness (soft tissue and joints), neurology, drugs and anesthesia, hoof care, respiratory topics, racehorse topics, and more.

Tom Lenz, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACT, delivered the keynote speech entitled “Horse Welfare Wars: When Emotion and Fact Collide”, a discussion on the growing population of horses needing homes and the major challenge it creates for veterinarians on a daily basis.
