The Monday morning (Oct. 16) session of the Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit will be open to the public and the media. A media briefing will be held at the conclusion of the summit on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 17).

The Monday morning session will be held from 8 a.m. to noon in the Keeneland Race Course sales pavilion in Lexington, Ky.; the media briefing will take place in the Limestone Café at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The summit, coordinated and underwritten by The Jockey Club and Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation and hosted by the Keeneland Association, will include a cross-section of more than 40 racing industry representatives.

The summit will feature presentations and panel discussions from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday. On Monday afternoon, six working groups will discuss welfare and safety issues in breakout sessions. On Tuesday morning, the six groups will report their recommendations and a strategic planning session will commence. That session will last from 8 a.m. until noon. A press release detailing highlights of the summit will be issued shortly thereafter and the media briefing will be held.
