Virginia Man Charged After Trailer Crash

The crash killed two horses; one died at the scene while the other was euthanized.

A Virginia man has been charged in connection with a trailer crash that killed two horses.

Major Mike Trice, public information officer for the Hanover, Virginia, Sheriff's Department, said department personnel responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash near Route 1 in Hanover on Nov. 2. The crash involved a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer that contained two horses, Trice said.

“The trailer became unhooked from the truck and hit a stand of trees at ate side of the road,” Trice said. “One of the horses died from its injuries at the scene and the other horse was euthanized at the scene.”

Authorities subsequently charged Michael Wilkerson with one count of driving on a suspended license, Trice said
