Develop Your Mental Horsepower

  • Aug 01 - Aug 03
  • Location: Thamesford, ON, , CAN

2-1/2 Day Special Forum with Linda Parelli & Dr. Jenny Susser. The 17 Ranch, 154483 15th Line Thamesford, ON, Canada (Just east of London, ON)Dr. Jenny describes emotional fitness as “The ability to rise to meet the situation by calling upon current or growing emotional capacities, without compromising ethical or character beliefs. It is an ever-increasing tolerance for enduring emotional stress and being able to perform, regardless of the situation.” The two-and-a-half-day forum will dive into developing these techniques in your horse and yourself, and applying the principles to your horsemanship. Friday night will kick off the forum with an exciting and revealing session that will convince participants to commit to challenging their emotional barriers. Saturday will focus on understanding your horse’s specific innate behaviors, listening to your “Inner Voice” (and the importance of doing so), and harnessing your energy to overcome mental blocks. Sunday concludes with sessions on understanding horse and human partnerships, and the continuation of the weekend’s lessons in emotional fitness. The Emotional Fitness Forum will offer attendees a textbook example of the versatility of the Parelli Program. What is truly special about the Parelli Program is that the techniques one uses in horsemanship can be applied to other facets in their life, including relationships with spouses, coworkers and peers. In the future, Parelli Natural Horsemanship will hold more events like the Emotional Fitness Forum with Dr. Jenny and Linda Parelli, in order to help individuals see the connection between horsemanship and human relationships. map: http://www.toddowens.com/images/17_Ranch_Map.jpg

Homes for Horses Coalition Summit

  • Jul 31 - Aug 01
  • Location: Denver, CO, USA

This is the only national training conference specifically for those involved with horse rescues and sanctuaries. The Summit offers the opportunity to network with equine welfare professionals from around the country, learn new skills and strategies, and recharge your enthusiasm for your rescue work. Sharing support, collaborating and learning are the goals of the Homes for Horses Coalition Summit. The conference will have an interactive format with topics such as strategic planning, finding and writing grants, lobbying for 501(c)(3) organizations, changes in the equine welfare industry and what we have learned from the evolution of dog and cat rescue. Speakers include leaders from The Humane Society of the United States, ASPCA, Animal Welfare Institute, Denkai Animal Sanctuary, Best Friends Animal Society, Brennan Equine Welfare Fund and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. There will be plenty of time for networking and learning from your peers, and if you haven't yet attended an ASPCA/Rosalind & Franklyn Schaefer Family Equine Workshop, stay Sunday to attend the Denver workshop at the same location. Special travel stipends are available to qualified applicants attending both the Summit and the workshop. Because of the generosity of our supporting organizations (ASPCA, Animal Welfare Institute, and The HSUS), we are able to offer our members a registration fee of only $25, non-members $75, which includes a reception, lunch and snacks. Don't hesitate. Register now. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Summit!
