Ashado, the 2004 Breeders’ Cup Distaff and Kentucky Oaks winner and that year’s champion 3-year-old Thoroughbred filly, will be offered for sale during the 2005 Keeneland November Mixed Sale by Taylor Made Sales Agency with a special gift back to the industry. Owned by Laurie and Jack Wolf, Paul Saylor, and Johns Martin, the partners have agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds of the sale to Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA). This contribution is consistent with a growing sentiment within the Thoroughbred industry to “give back” to the industry.

Laurie and Jack Wolf said, “On behalf of the partners, we feel very fortunate in the Thoroughbred industry and with the sale of Ashado, our crown jewel, it’s a perfect opportunity to give back to the industry. By giving to Thoroughbred Charities of America, we know the funds will go to all aspects of the racing community.”

Thoroughbred Charities of America is the largest umbrella non-profit organization of the Thoroughbred industry. Its sole mission is to raise money for distribution to more than 100 organizations involved with Thoroughbred rescue, retirement, rehabilitation, research, education, backstretch, jockey, and therapeutic riding programs. The organization is operated almost entirely by volunteers, which allows it to grant over 93 cents of every $1 raised.

TCA raises money primarily through its annual TCA/TOBA Stallion Season and Art Auction. The dates for this year’s telephone auction are Nov. 29-Dec. 1, with select seasons and art offered on Dec. 3.
