East Union Township police and humane officers from the Hillside Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) are hoping the offer of a cash reward will help them identify who discarded the carcasses of two horses near East Union, Pennsylvania.

In a written statement, the East Union Township Police Department said officers discovered the remains of a chestnut horse with a white blaze and another white horse covered with a beige tarp and discarded on the side of a road in Phineyville on Jan. 3. Both animals appeared to be malnourished.

Investigators estimate that the horse were left at the roadside sometime during morning hours of Jan 1 and Jan. 2.

The Hillside SPCA is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the incident
