The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has launched a new book to celebrate the association’s 50th anniversary. The full-color volume has a forward by HRH Princess Anne, a former three-day eventing competitor. It brings together the entertaining views and experiences of some of the key players within the association over the past half a century in a very readable format.

Fifty Years of the British Equine Veterinary Association comprises a compilation of 17 chapters, each written by an individual who has had a significant role within the organization since its inception back in 1961. Contributions are included from BEVA’s very first secretary Andi Ewen and the first female president, Dr. Deborah Baker, who provides an amusing account of her year in office.

Wayne McIlwraith, BVSc, PhD, DSc, FRCVS, Dipl. ACVS, director of orthopaedic research at Colorado State University gives an overseas perspective on the organization, and student representative Nina Rzechorzek explains why she feels that BEVA has such an important role to play in the lives of under-graduates and freshly qualified vets.

BEVA President Deidre Carson, BVSc(Sydney), MRCVS said, "This book is a wonderful way to celebrate BEVA’s 50th birthday. It’s full of fun, with some side-splitting anecdotes and poignant reminiscences. It also contains a section on this year’s special celebratory dinner with plenty of photographs
