A Brandon, Fla., man is facing a DUI charge after driving his vehicle into a mounted Tampa police officer and his horse early this morning (Aug. 26).
Authorities say plainclothes officers first approached the man on foot as he was sitting in his vehicle with the music blaring. The man spotted the officers, rolled up his windows, locked the doors, and took off.
He allegedly sped into an intersection where Officer Salvatore Mazza was directing traffic atop his police horse. Police say the man drove into the officer and horse, throwing them both into the windshield.
The officer and horse are both recovering from minor injuries
