In an article from Ohio’s Chronicle-Telegram, writer Lisa Robertson reported that the death last year of an 8-year-old horse named Gypsy, owned by an 11-year-old 4-H member, prompted Lorain County Fair executives to decided to build new stalls.
Gypsy reportedly was impaled on a steel T-post when she was in a tie stall and acted up. In a quote from Lorain County Senior Horse Council President Pam Loy, the article stated the new tie posts and stalls will be better built to safely contain horses.
The project, which will cost $8,000-$10,000, will be paid by the Lorain County Fair Board and the Lorain County Senior Horse Council.
The article stated that the young girl was not returning to horses as a 4-H project; instead she will have rabbits
