Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, Dipl. The renowned equine orthopedic surgeon was scheduled to serve as the AAEP On Call veterinarian for the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes last month; However he yielded those duties to Mary Scollay, DVM, and Scott Palmer, VMD, respectively, after sustaining a head injury in the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Bramlage is in his 21st year as an AAEP On Call veterinarian.

The On Call program serves over 30 televised equine events annually and received the 2008 Special Eclipse Award for contributions to the sport of Thoroughbred racing. Nearly 20 media-trained AAEP-member veterinarians share their veterinary expertise as On Call spokespersons.
