The 2013 Kentucky Round-Up, being hosted by the Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) on Feb. 2, 2013 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, has announced its schedule of speaker education for parents, novice horse owners, and advanced horsemen. Attendance in all classes is included in general admission to Kentucky Round-Up.

"All About Kids and Horses " is a speaker series designed for parents of children who would like to be involved in horses. It will provide information to assist in the family’s decision about horses, and how to getting started. Topics include different ways that families can be involved in horses, the character development and sportsmanship benefits of horse activities, safety guidelines, cost estimates, and Kentucky youth groups which offer horse education and sports.

"Doing it Right: Horse Care Basics" provides hands-on information for the new or novice horse owner. Speakers will cover basic body parts and horse care, care of horses’ feet, nutrition, choosing a boarding stable, choosing an instructor, questions about buying or leasing, and other options for horse involvement.

"The Advanced Horse Owner" series will provide information for experienced farms and owners on topics such as risk management, water quality plans, the new Kentucky Proud horse farm program, managing equine Cushing’s disease, and choosing a thoroughbred for a second career
