Deadline to Apply for Free Vaccines Through UHVRC is Feb. 1

Qualifying facilities can receive EEE/WEE, EHV, WNV, influenza, tetanus, and rabies vaccines for horses.

Equine rescue and retirement facilities are invited to apply for free vaccines through the Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign (UHVRC), a program sponsored by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and Merck Animal Health.

The deadline to apply for spring vaccines is Feb. 1.

Qualifying equine facilities will be provided with equine vaccines protecting against Eastern equine encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, equine rhinopneumonitis (EHV-1 and EHV-4), West Nile virus, equine influenza, tetanus, and rabies.

To qualify for donated vaccines, facilities must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and follow the AAEP Care Guidelines for Equine Rescue and Retirement Facilities. Facilities must work with an AAEP-member veterinarian when applying
