A topic of growing interest for many horse owners is equine acupuncture. At the Sept. 20 Kentucky Equine Networking Association (KENA) dinner meeting, Rhonda Rathgeber, DVM, PhD, from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, in Lexington, Ky., will discuss the use of acupuncture in equine medicine.

The networking meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with registration and a cash bar. Next, E.S. "Rusty" Ford, Equine Programs Manager for the Kentucky Office of the State Veterinarian will present a brief segment on the Kentucky Livestock Care Standards and Equine Health & Welfare Council. A short presentation on the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse will follow.

The keynote presentation, "Equine Acupuncture," with Rathgeber begins following dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Rathgeber is a partner with Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Ky. She holds a PhD in equine anatomy and locomotion from Washington State University
