An anonymous national company is offering cash grants to owners of horses displaced by last month’s Sand Fire in California.

On July 22, wildfires began burning near Santa Clarita, California, torching more than 58 square miles and driving more than 20,000 residents from their homes. Ahead of the blaze, 345 horses were evacuated to eight shelters operated by the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control.

In August, a large company with national clients announced that it would provide cash grants to help the owners of horses displaced by the fire rebuild. 

“The grants are for assistance with feed or veterinary needs related to the fire,” said Tita Brown, owner of TB Transportation, who relocated several of the displaced horses. “No breeding or food production operations qualify
