Deputies in Yamhill County, Oregon, are seeking whoever fatally shot a horse and left the carcass in the woods.

Yamhill County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sergeant Chris Ray said personnel on woods patrol discovered the carcass of a horse that had been shot near Bald Mountain in an area known as Whip-up Flats on April 22. The horse seemed to have been uninjured and in good condition when it was killed by a single gunshot sometime between April 19 and the early hours of April 22, Ray said.

“The incident is under investigation,” Ray said.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Deputy Mark Adams or Deputy Roy Harrell at 503/434-7506, adamsm@co.yamhil.or.usharrellr@co.yamhill.or.us
