First Choice Marketing has announced plans to host the 14th Annual Hambletonian Continuing Education Seminar for Equine Veterinarians, to be held Aug. 1-2 in conjunction with the 88th Annual Hambletonian Festival of Racing in East Rutherford, N.J. Over the past thirteen years, this veterinary meeting has grown to become the third largest equine veterinary continuing education (CE) meeting in the country.

The Hambletonian Continuing Education Seminar has again partnered with the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians (AAEVT) and will be offering CE credits as well to all licensed veterinary technicians and assistants participating in the seminar and/or wet labs.

The 8th Annual Continuing Education Wet Labs program will take place at the Meadowlands Racetrack on Aug. 1, with sessions running from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Participants will have a choice among thirty-six credit hours offered. Transportation and lunch will be provided. Fees are $400 per half-day (4-hour) session or $700 for one full-day or two half-day sessions (8 CE hours). Participation in these intensive, hands-on sessions is limited. Sessions will include:

  • Bruce Coren, DVM, MS—Integrating High Power Class IV Laser Therapy into Equine Medicine—4 hours (Sponsored by Technological Medical Advancements)
  • Mark Crisman, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVIM, and Megan Belcher, LVT, RVT—Equine Respiratory Disease: Prep & Support During Diagnostic Procedures (This 8-hour lab sponsored by Zoetis is for veterinary technicians only and will be offered free of charge)
  • Travis Henry, DVM—Equine Dentistry: Phase One—8 hours (Sponsored by Zoetis)
  • Kevin May, DVM—Equine Musculoskeletal Radiography—4 hours (Sponsored by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society)
  • Patrick Reilly—Glue-on Shoes & Hoof Reconstruction Techniques—4 hours (Sponsored by Patterson Veterinary Supply)
  • Alfredo Romero, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, and Jeffrey Schaffer, DVM—Regenerative Therapies: Proven Clinical Results—4 hours (Sponsored by Equine Partners America and Pall Life Sciences Animal Health)

The 14th Annual Hambletonian Continuing Education Seminar program will take place on Aug. 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel and Conference Center in East Rutherford. Veterinary seminar participants can attend free of charge and can select from twelve continuing education credit hours offered
