Oregon authorities are hoping the public can shed light on the circumstances surrounding a horse’s death in Riverside County.

Deputy Armando Munoz, public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, said deputies responded to a call about the death of a horse in Thermal, Oregon, on Sept. 30. Upon arrival, deputies found that the animal showed obvious signs of trauma and, after further investigation, they ruled the horse’s death as suspicious.

“The incident is being investigated as an animal cruelty case,” Munoz said. “The investigation is open and ongoing.”
