The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has announced the veterinary panel as well as the associate veterinarians for the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team. The veterinary panel will play a vital role in the evaluation, selection, and success of the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team on team trips and championships in the coming years. The associate veterinarians will help in supporting team efforts when necessary. The USEF would like to thank the outgoing panel comprised of Brendan Furlong, MVB, MRCVS; Catherine Kohn, VMD; and PJ McMahon, MVB MRCVS for more than a decade of service to the program.

The new U.S. Eventing Team Veterinary Panel is composed of:

  • Mark Revenaugh, DVM—Treating Veterinarian
  • Duncan Peters, DVM, MS—Evaluating Veterinarian
  • Susan Johns, DVM, CVA—Associate Treating Veterinarian

Revenaugh, of Portland, Ore., is renowned for diagnosing and managing lameness and injury in sport horses. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1997, he has served as a team veterinarian or assistant team veterinarian for multiple disciplines. He is Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) accredited in show jumping, eventing, dressage, and driving. In 2002, he opened Northwest Equine Performance, also in Portland, a veterinary practice specializing in unique and leading-edge treatment of lameness and other performance-related issues. Revenaugh will oversee the program, liaise with riders’ individual veterinarians, and travel to some of the team competitions.

Peters, of Williamston, Mich., is well-respected throughout the United States and abroad for his diagnostic treatment and management abilities with horses across numerous disciplines. In August 2012, he was appointed the director of the Clinical Equine Sports Medicine Program and associate professor of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to his work at MSU, Peters started the sport horse division at the Hagyard Equine Medial Institute in Lexington, Ky. He is an active member of both the USEF Equine Drugs and Medications Committee and the USEF Veterinary Committee. He is an FEI Veterinary Delegate and worked at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and the FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships. Peters will assist the panel in evaluating the soundness and health of team horses
