Equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) was the topic of discussion at the Kentucky Equine Networking Association (KENA) dinner Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Kentucky. Speakers including Kenton Morgan, DVM, Dipl. ACT, an equine technical services veterinarian with Zoetis; Joe Lyman, DVM, MS, a professional services veterinarian with Neogen Corporation; and Rusty Ford, equine program’s manager for the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s Office, shared updates with horse owners about EHV-1 and how to minimize their horses’ risk of contracting the disease.

Our editor-in-chief was in attendance, and here are some of the basic take-home messages she picked up during the meeting.
