Los Angeles Police: Horse Death Appears Accidental

Investigators believe the horse probably died of strangulation after being improperly loaded into a trailer.

The death of a horse found tied to a pole in Los Angeles, California, appears to be accidental, law enforcement authorities said.

Earlier this month a dead horse was found tied by the tail to a pole on a residential street in Los Angeles. Police initially said the dead mare showed signs of blunt trauma and a possible gunshot wound.

On April 25, after talking to witnesses, investigators ruled that the horse had probably died of strangulation after being improperly loaded into a horse trailer.

“There was no gunshot wound and no foul play involved with the death,” said Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Officer Jenny Houser. “However, we are still waiting for the necropsy results
