The United States Pony Clubs (USPC) held the dedication and grand opening of its new permanent headquarters at the Kentucky Horse Park on Oct. 27. The building was dedicated to Joan Birnie Hamill of Wayne, Ill., a long-time supporter of USPC. Hamill, her husband, Corwith, and their children were on hand for the dedication ceremony. The United States Pony Club’s national office relocated to the Kentucky Horse Park from Pennsylvania in 1992, and planning for the new headquarters began in 1997.

The new 10,000 square foot building houses 15 employees plus the USPC Equine Bookstore, which is open to the public. The USPC was founded as a national non-profit educational youth horsemanship organization in 1954.

Today there are more than 625 Pony Clubs in the United States, including those in Alaska and Hawaii, with more than 13,000 members. Members range from five to 21 years of age
