An Oregon woman has pleaded guilty to abusing 170 Miniature Horses on her Josephine County property last year.

Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilberston said that in 2012 his department responded to a tip that animals on Kandi Crow’s ranch were being mistreated. Upon investigation Sheriff’s Department personnel discovered 170 Miniature Horses and a variety of other animals residing on the ranch, Gilbertson said; in all, more than 200 animals were taken from the farm.  All were evaluated by a veterinarian, and some of the horses were allegedly infected with parasites and in need of dental and hoof care, Gilbertson said.

“Some of the 170 Miniature Horses had to be euthanized,” Gilbertson said.

Crow was subsequently charged with animal neglect and abuse
