A University of Minnesota investigation into reasons, costs, and solutions for the increase into unwanted horses in the upper Midwest and Texas will be discussed at a summit March 8 at the university’s Leatherdale Equine Center.

Research into the problem of unwanted horses and possible solutions was funded through a grant awarded by the Morris Animal Foundation. Discussion of the findings will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the equine center in St. Paul.

Several knowledgeable speakers have been invited to participate. Representatives from a number of organizations involved with addressing the unwanted horse problems will also be in attendance.

Program registration is required by March 5, 2014. The registration fee is $25 per person, and includes a program for the proceedings, lunch, and refreshments. Registration is available online at www.regonline.com/UnwantedHorseSummit
