The New York woman facing 10 animal cruelty counts for allegedly maltreating horses and other animals at her East Aurora farm is now facing multiple new charges.

In March, officials from the SPCA Serving Erie county removed 73 horses and numerous dogs and cats from the property owned by farm operator Beth Hoskins. Erie District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III later charged Hoskins with 10 counts of animal cruelty for the alleged maltreatment of seven horses and three cats. Hoskins has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Last week, New York State Supreme Court Judge Joseph R. Glownia ordered the SPCA to return 40 of the horses removed from Hoskins' property. The SPCA Serving Erie County retained the right to inspect the horses and monitor their care. The rest of the horses remain under SPCA care.

So far, the agency has returned 17 of the horses and inspected barns on Hoskins' property twice, said SPCA spokesperson Gina Browning
