The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) is the leading provider of continuing education for veterinarians who deal with horses. The association is also committed to educating horse owners, and that commitment is growing as evidenced by the development of an Owner Education Committee and plans for assisting veterinarians in educating their clients through electronic and print means, lectures, and one-on-one communication.

The 2002 convention (held Dec. 4-8 in Orlando, Fla.) offered many ways for veterinarians to learn about the latest in horse care, from reproduction to racehorse medication and from infectious diseases to dentistry. There also was a special day just for horse owners (see page 10).

Because of the overwhelming amount of information available at the AAEP Convention, everything would not fit in these few pages. We have put additional articles and more in-depth features from presenters at the convention in a special place on our web site (visit www.TheHorse.com/AAEP2002).

The Horse staff would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many presenters who helped us bring you this information, and to the office staff and elected leaders of the AAEP
