The International Collating Center, Newmarket, United Kingdom, and other sources reported the following disease outbreaks during the second quarter* of 2012.

A report of contagious equine metritis was received from Germany involving two Icelandic mares.

Outbreaks of Salmonella abortus equi infection were recorded in Argentina (11 abortions on one premises) and Japan (one case).

Strangles was recorded in Germany (one case), Sweden (three premises), and the United States (Iowa, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania)
