Thoroughbred trainer Thomas Amoss has been suspended for 45 days and fined $5,000 as a result of a 2011 positive test for methocarbamol.

The drug, an Association of Racing Commissioners International Class 4-C foreign substance, acts as a centrally-activating muscle relaxant when administered to race horses.

Amoss’ suspension runs from Sept. 17 through and including Oct. 31.

The race resulting in the positive occurred at Hoosier Park, in Anderson, on October 21, 2011. Mr. Amoss, who had been represented by four attorneys through the duration of the disciplinary action, and the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) staff entered into a settlement agreement which the commission unanimously approved at its July 15 public meeting
