There are a number of schools of thought when it comes to housing horses. Some people keep their horses outside 24/7/aaep-20065Ñwith a shelter of some sort, of courseÑcome hell or high water. Others’ horses remain outside for the vast majority of the time, only coming inside when inclement weather strikes. Other owners divide their horses’ days between a stall and a pasture, and others mainly house their horses in stalls. No, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to housing horses.

Many veterinarians recommend turning senior horses out as much as possible to keep them moving around and self-exercising. After all, a body at rest tends to stay at rest, and a body in motion tends to stay in motion. However, when winter weather arrives, older horse owners are sometimes faced with a challenging decision: Should I keep my horse outside, or should he come inside?
