Sally Ike Honored with Rutgers’ Spirit of the Horse Award

The Rutgers University Equine Science Center has named internationally renowned equestrian Sally Ike as the 2016 recipient of the “Spirit of the Horse” award.

Ike will receive the award during an Equine Science Center special welcome back to campus event, “An Evening with Sally Ike” on Sept. 29.

The Spirit of the Horse award recognizes individuals whose lives have been profoundly changed because of their involvement with horses and who have acknowledged the impact by giving back to the horse industry.

“Sally Ike’s entire life has revolved around horses and her internationally reputation with both the United States Equestrian Team (USET) and now the United Stated Equestrian Federation (USEF), make her a role model for anyone aspiring to compete at the highest level of equestrian sport,” said Karyn Malinowski, PhD, director of the Equine Science Center. “In her latest role as USEF’s managing director of education and licensed officials, Sally is integrally involved in preparing the United States’ future Olympic riders
