A group of show horses were injured when a tractor-trailer collided with the trailer in which they were riding in Redlands, California.

Officer Brian Alvarez, public information officer for the California Highway Patrol, said that on Jan. 11, officers responded to a call about a collision on Highway 10 on Jan. 11, involving a tractor-trailer and horse transport truck containing seven horses.

Alvarez said the operator of tractor-trailer lost control, causing the vehicle to bounce off the center divider before swerving into the slower lane and striking the horse trailer. Of the horses contained in the trailer four were unhurt, two sustained minor cuts, and one sustained serious injuries.

“That horse was transported to a local (equine) hospital where it is being treated,” said Jade Johnston, DVM
