The Equine Science Society (ESS) recently recognized Laurie Lawrence, PhD, a professor in the University of Kentucky Department of Animal and Food Sciences, for her professional achievements in the equine industry.

Lawrence received the Equine Nutrition Research Award on May 29, during the 2015 ESS Symposium in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

The award is sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) as part of its ongoing awards program, which dates back to 1948. Larry Mack of Seminole Feed, presented the award to Lawrence on AFIA’s behalf.

Lawrence, whose research efforts take place both in the United States and abroad, focuses on equine nutrition, with her most recent research project concentrated on pasture-based feeding programs and forage utilization by young and mature horses
