Houston Police Probe Horse Thefts

Texas police are investigating the alleged theft of a pair of horses from a Houston barn.

Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon said the owner of a barn in the city’s Acres Homes area reported that a horse boarded at his barn had been stolen on the morning of July 15. He also reported that a saddle and other equipment had been taken from the barn. The same afternoon, an owner reported that his 2-year-old Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred cross was also missing from the same barn, Cannon said.

The horses were found when a neighbor called the Houston County Sheriff’s Department to report that they’d seen the animals on a nearby property.

“They had seen news reports and had the horses’ description and told deputies that the neighbor had two horses she had never had before,” Cannon said
