2012 BEVA President Takes the Reins

The appointment of Keith Chandler, BVMS, CertEP, MRCVS, as president of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) for 2012/13 will be formally approved at BEVA Congress, taking place Sept. 12-15, 2012, at the International Convention Center in Birmingham, England. He will take over the role at the end of the Congress.

Chandler is the association’s second Scottish-based president is its 50 year history. He previously served on BEVA Council between 2001 and 2006, where he was a part of the education committee and also chaired the Dental Working Party, before rejoining Council in 2010 as Junior Vice President.

Chandler qualified from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in 1993 and has worked in both mixed and specialist equine practice, in the U.K. and overseas. He gained the CertEP in 1997 and, after a spell as a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, he founded the U.K.’s most northerly equine practice, Kessock Equine Veterinary Clinic in Inverness, Scotland. Chandler is married to fellow veterinarian Rachel and they have two young children, Eilidh and Hamish.
