As a result of the 2012 drought, some owners are having difficulties finding feed sources for their horses. Michigan State University (MSU) Extension has created an online resource to aid horse owners with equine feeding and welfare issues.

"The hay supply is short this year in part because of the devastating drought that we experienced this past summer," said Karen Waite, MS, MSU equine extension specialist. "This new online resource contains options for horse owners during this time of need."

The resource page on winter feed is available at https://msue.anr.msu.edu/resources/horse_feed_resources.

The Equine Feed and Welfare Resources page features MSU Extension articles on alternative feed sources, hay prices and availability, and more
