Penn Vet Announces 2017-18 First Tuesday Lecture Series

Lecture topics will include anesthesia, eye emergencies, sports medicine, biosecurity, foaling problems, and more.

Sharpen your horse health know-how with experts from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet) at a series of public First Tuesday Lectures, hosted by New Bolton Center located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

The free lecture series for equine enthusiasts and owners, the presentations takes place on campus in Alumni Hall on the first Tuesday of selected months.

The schedule for the 2017-2018 academic year will include:

  • Sept. 12—Klaus Hopster, DMV, DrMedVet, Dipl. ECVAA, will present “Anesthesia: Take a Deep Breath…”
  • Oct. 3—Nikki Scherrer, DVM, will present “Ocular 911: When is the Eye an Emergency”
  • Nov. 7—Kathryn Wulster, VMD, will present “Advanced Imaging: Innovations in Diagnostic Capabilities”
  • Dec. 5—The Emergency Critical care team—Barbara Dallap Schaer, VMD, Dipl. ACVS, ACVECC; Janet Johnson, DVM; Maia Aiken, DVM, Dipl. ACVS; and Louise Southwood, BVSc, MS, PhD, Dipl. ACVS, ACVECC—will present “New Bolton 911: Tales from the Emergency Room”
  • March 6, 2018—Michelle Linton, BSc, BVMS, Dipl. ACVIM, and Jennifer Linton, VMD, will present “Dystocia: How to Deal With a Difficult Birth”
  • April 3, 2018—Helen Aceto, VMD, PhD, and Rose Nolen-Walston, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM, will present “Bad Bug, Bad Bug, Whatcha Gonna Do? State-of-the-Art Biosecurity at New Bolton”
  • May 1, 2018—Elizabeth Davidson, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, ACVSMR, and Liz Arbittier, VMD, CVA, will present “Sports Medicine”
  • June 5, 2018—Dean Richardson, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, will present “Cool Things About Equine Anatomy”
