Warmblood Filly in British Columbia Stolen

Law enforcement authorities in Canada are seeking whoever is responsible for stealing a 12-day-old Oldenburg filly from her pasture in British Columbia. The missing foal’s estimated value is between CA$10,000-20,000. 

Cpl. Holly Largy, media relations officer for the Langley Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Detachment said that, on Aug. 7, the foal named Liesel was turned out with her dam for the very first time when she was taken from their Langley, BC, pasture sometime after 9:30 p.m.  

Authorities believe that whoever took the foal might have drugged the mare before the theft.

“So the thief would likely have some horse knowledge,” Largy said
