In the late '80s, very effective; hyaluronic acid

8/12/2013 8:20:23 PM

Just twice, a few years apart, with excellent results

Only one horse who has arthritis.

8/12/2013 3:13:35 PM

Science behind it not convincing. Vet call plus injection $2-3 hundred! Get real!!!

8/12/2013 2:02:45 PM

she hasn't needed any

8/12/2013 10:55:09 AM

So far there has not been a need to.

8/12/2013 10:43:03 AM

never needed

8/12/2013 12:39:52 AM

some people consider this "maintenance". I strongly disagree

8/11/2013 8:25:20 PM

There is no such thing as maintenance injections in human athletes. Studies show post inject damage

8/11/2013 5:17:42 PM

I have had no need

8/11/2013 4:51:37 PM

only 1 horse and only when needed

8/9/2013 8:55:28 PM

I give a Legend injection every three months

8/9/2013 5:07:01 PM

So far my 25+ yo has not had any issues that would need injections--I amthankfull

8/9/2013 10:50:09 AM

deteriorates the joint

8/9/2013 10:35:29 AM

Only if the horse needs it.

8/9/2013 2:34:01 AM

we have always rested our horses when needed, have a GREAT farrier, and we ride reiners.

8/9/2013 2:14:03 AM

I'm a no never person presently but many traineers and ridders are trying to talk me into it. I

8/8/2013 9:54:31 PM

I would only do it if it was medically necessary and nothing more!

8/8/2013 7:59:38 PM

Find it very helpful for show horses who jump a lot

8/8/2013 7:37:17 PM

With proper hoof care I have never found a need for joint injections.

8/8/2013 7:04:40 PM

I did until the steroid caused laminitis. Now I use herbs for his arthritis instead.

8/8/2013 6:49:44 PM

Not since Adequan

8/8/2013 6:14:14 PM

neverbeen necessary, yet

8/8/2013 2:51:25 PM

No joint problems in our horses, they are only 12 and strictly trail horses.

8/8/2013 11:52:00 AM

have seen a boarder's horse injected several times in a year

8/7/2013 11:55:53 PM

Injections became a necessity for my show mare.

8/7/2013 9:30:35 PM

have never needed to Strasser horse care method applied correctly means joints are strainfree

8/7/2013 9:26:28 PM

Hocks only

8/7/2013 7:04:27 PM

Never had a vet recommend a shot. Would if he did.

8/7/2013 5:52:14 PM

Once, at 24 years of age, the coffin joint.

8/7/2013 5:25:04 PM

Therapeutic clogs have reduced the need for injections

8/7/2013 5:23:10 PM

Not so far, but wouldn't rule it out.

8/7/2013 4:31:03 PM

if the time comes that injections would benefit I would do them

8/7/2013 3:29:08 PM

Our horses are all sound, including in their joints and including the old ones.

8/7/2013 3:13:40 PM

No joint problems that cold water and rest couldn't fix

8/7/2013 12:42:14 PM

only when absolutely needed

8/7/2013 12:14:39 PM

Try not too unless they absolutely need it

8/7/2013 11:20:42 AM

I only inject if recommended by vet

8/7/2013 11:05:45 AM

would a chronically swollen hind fetlock be a candidate for this?

8/7/2013 11:03:05 AM

My older horse has developed upper Ringbone & my vet recently injected the joint to try to help her.

8/7/2013 9:26:19 AM

stifle issues

8/7/2013 7:59:18 AM

we've done the funky knee of my old mare and her hocks, for comfort as she grew older 1X each

8/7/2013 7:40:12 AM

Annually for old mare w/arthritis; hope to avoid w/new horse by careful training & use of Cosequin

8/7/2013 7:26:00 AM

Only when required

8/7/2013 1:49:52 AM

Cosequin and retirement has brought back apparent soundness for 26 yr. old mare

8/7/2013 1:38:27 AM

My 29 yr old had her stifles injected several times to help with her arthritis/calcification of that

8/7/2013 12:23:21 AM

Injecting hocks did not help. Then used alcohol injection to fuse joint & kill nerve endings.

8/6/2013 11:16:48 PM

We have only had to inject our horses joints to help heal injuries. He is an accident prone horse.

8/6/2013 10:49:31 PM

Never had a horse that needed it.

8/6/2013 10:27:02 PM

haven't needed too yet, but I think I will need to soon

8/6/2013 9:34:57 PM

My horse is 18 & this is the first year my vet injected his hocks. So far, so good.

8/6/2013 8:56:04 PM

my elder horse was injected once. did not notice much difference.

8/6/2013 8:16:24 PM

8/6/2013 7:30:26 PM

Have done it a couple of times a year in the past

8/6/2013 7:16:26 PM

I haven't had to have it done, YET. Thank goodness.

8/6/2013 7:04:21 PM

ACELL injections to help heal/repair suspensory

8/6/2013 6:48:07 PM

I do have them done but only if needed

8/6/2013 6:26:03 PM

And I wouldn't ! Too risky and painful !

8/6/2013 6:21:21 PM

Both knees & hocks. My horse does so much better.

8/6/2013 6:11:28 PM

Yes as needed sometimes multiple times a year sometimes just once depending on the horse

8/6/2013 5:51:41 PM

Haven't needed to yet, thank God.

8/6/2013 5:11:28 PM

My horse is isolated and has no arthritis as yet

8/6/2013 5:08:54 PM

Only when needed

8/6/2013 5:01:43 PM

We allowed our trainer to have our stallion injected once while competing, but that was it

8/6/2013 4:51:51 PM

We breed for strong healthy anatomy and properly work our horses to avoid damage.

8/6/2013 4:50:49 PM

Hyvisc every couple of months

8/6/2013 4:22:06 PM

only if all other options have failed

8/6/2013 1:11:54 PM

I have been lucky so far and have not had ahorse with joint problems

8/6/2013 10:51:10 AM

I have in the past, but now that he is retired and out on pasture, he no longer requires it.

8/6/2013 10:07:41 AM

2 times a year because she is fusing my understanding is once fused no more injections

8/6/2013 9:57:32 AM

But do use adequan routinely

8/6/2013 8:29:06 AM

My horse gets joints injected as needed, as determined by our wonderful vet.

8/6/2013 8:02:04 AM

I'm lucky- never needed to have it done

8/6/2013 4:03:40 AM

Dangerous/ can cause infection & serious problems

8/6/2013 1:46:50 AM

Only when necessary.

8/6/2013 1:41:33 AM

compromising the integrity of the joint capsule seems like a risky idea
